About Me

Hello!! Im Stef, and I’m an illustrator based in Ontario Canada. I’m a recent graduate of OCAD University, where I majored in illustration. For as long as I could hold a pencil,  I’ve been drawing. To be honest, I can’t even remember a time in my life where I wasn’t doodling something!! More specifically, I’ve always gravitated towards drawing characters, even at a young age. Whether that was doodling my favourite characters or creating my own, there’s something about character-centric illustration that’s always spoke to me. Another huge influence for me as an artist, is all things horror and spooky. To me, every day is Halloween!! I once had a professor tell me a broken clown doll I drew for an assignment was rather creepy, and all I could think was that I tried to make her look cute!! (Looking back, she was unintentionally creepy) So safe to say, a spooky atmosphere sometimes seeps its way into my work. From when I was a little girl, Halloween has always been my favourite holiday. I loved to go trick or treating with my dad, but not for the candy. I always looked forward to dressing up and admiring the decorations adorning each house, enjoying the atmosphere of the holiday.

Even though I have certain subjects that I gravitate towards as an artist, I’m always open to stepping out of my comfort zone!! Even in my day to day life, I don’t like to limit myself and am always open to new challenges. I feel I’m a pretty versatile person, and not exactly a stereotypical artist. I grew up playing soccer as a goal keeper, and I also play hockey. Growing up playing team sports has taught me so much, and both sports have toughened me up as a person.
